Hooker Lake is the newest addition to Slate Falls Outposts tradition of picking out the best waters available for our clients to fish and explore.  It is located within the St. Raphael Heritage Wilderness site and was closed for most of  the last decade.  Slate Falls Outposts has reopened it for the 2016 season as a single outpost cabin.  The cabin now has all of the Slate Falls Outposts amenities including: solar lights and running water, solar refrigeration, boardwalk to the cabin, attractive fire area, new boat slip dock with handrails, 15 hp new Honda 4 stroke motors, a rebuilt main cabin with covered deck and screened in porch and also a separate sleeping cabin.  The facility hold up to 10 people.  The lake is varied and interesting.  Unlike it’s downstream cousin [Miniss Lake] it is not a rock hazard lovers paradise [a quote from Ron S.] It has many beaches and  a variety of water from 100 feet to large sandy shoals.  Excellent transition zones for the walleyes to stack up on.  Numbers and average size on the walleyes has been very rewarding and all groups this year have had a good story to relay to us on their departure.  Large pike are definitely there, but not our first recommendation if that is your goal, but hard to find an equal in the abundant walleye category.  The lake is comprised of a total of 9 lakes, all accessible from our location by boat but in general folks have been sticking within 3 or 4 miles either way as there is no need to travel any further beyond the fun of exploring new country.
