Hooker Lake

Hooker Lake Outpost
The Hooker Lake outpost has quickly become one of our busiest and most popular cabins. The site the cabin is located on quite possibly one of our more beautiful locations. The cabin is set on a sandy spit of land amongst a beautiful open Jackpine stand. Behind the cabin runs a creek leading into a low marshy area. Sometimes from the kitchen window, guests sometimes are able to spot the odd moose out feeding. If you’re lucky, you might spot a moose from as where we like to call our “outhouse with a view”. The firepit area has also became a favorite among guests. Many nights have ended sitting around it with a beverage in hand telling fish stories under the stars.
The cabin was renovated in 2016 when we began operating the location. It was quickly brought up to our exceptional SFO standards including building new boardwalks and our standard boat slip docks. The open concept, two bedroom cabin, with the bonus of an attached screened-in porch, can comfortably sleep up to 6 guests. Later we added two separate smaller bunkhouses to be able to handle larger groups or for smaller groups to have a little more space. With the addition of these two bunkhouses the location can comfortably hold groups of up to 12 people.
The Lake and Fishing
Hooker Lake is a part of the Miniss River system, which is located within the St Raphael Wildland Park along with our Arc Lake Outpost and Miniss Lake East & West Outposts. By being within this park, it makes it have limited access points and means guests have this vast water body to explore all to themselves. The lake structure varies giving anglers many options for different techniques. From shallow bays, deep rocky structure, large sand flats and many neck down current areas the options are endless. You can expect very good numbers of walleye averaging in the 18-22″ range with opportunities to catch some larger. Pike numbers and size are also very good on this system.
One bonus of this system and location of the cabin is that even on the windier weather days there are still options to go fishing without having to cross rough water. There are 9 lakes on the lake system. They are all accessible from our location by boat. Some of the best fishing spots like most of our camps are very close to camp. How nice is that?
